This is seriously the best marinara recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 28oz can of Cento Whole Peeled Tomatoes
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
- 6 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tsp sugar
- pinch of salt
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- pinch of oregano (optional)
Instructions
Pour the can of tomatoes into a large bowl.
Add a couple splashes of water to the empty can and set aside.
Crush the tomatoes by hand until no large chunks remain.
Chop the garlic fairly fine, but not minced.
Heat the olive oil in a large sauce pan.
Add the garlic and cook several seconds until fragrant. Do not brown.
Add the tomato paste and cook for a few more seconds.
Add the extra virgin olive oil, the water from the empty can, the sugar, salt, and red pepper flakes.
Simmer until fragrant and the sauce has begun to thicken.
Add the optional oregano and simmer for a minute or so.
Serve over your favorite pasta and enjoy!
